The Challenge

Deal4Doors is an eCommerce business supplying high-quality internal and external doors to customers across the UK. In January 2023 the company launched a new website built by Ascensor, which vastly improved the online shopping experience for customers and increased sales. 

Deal4Doors were not carrying out any other marketing activity and faced stiff competition from other door suppliers in the UK. We identified opportunities for growth and optimisation through an expert combination of PPC advertising, CRO and email marketing.

We adopted a scaled approach to our work and increased activity as we hit revenue and profit forecasts ahead of schedule.

It was apparent early in our analysis of the Deal4Doors site that a large proportion of customers were abandoning their baskets, with less than half of users that started an order actually completing a purchase. Using interactive heatmaps of clicks and actions and anonymous session recordings, we discovered that many users were being deterred when learning delivery costs after they’d added products to their basket. 

To tackle the drop-off issue, we designed and rolled out a banner that clearly set out the delivery terms on every page of the site, which had an immediate impact on basket abandonment rates.

Simultaneously, we built email automations to increase revenue from existing traffic on the Deal4Doors website. As well as creating a series of welcome emails which trigger with an account or newsletter sign-up, we developed a basket abandonment email automation to pick up potentially missed revenue. The three-part series reminds users of the products still in their basket and offers a discount to complete the purchase. This proved to be hugely successful. Regular product upsell emails now also tailor sales and offers to relevant, active users.

Meanwhile our PPC team focused on creating a Shopping campaign to bring a direct return to the website, increasing traffic and sales and generating strong ROI.

Using targeted keywords and demographics and building asset groups that specifically reflect the door types and ranges on sale, Deal4Doors are now reaching potential customers who are actively searching for internal and external doors, increasing conversion opportunities.

Our email marketing campaigns produced an incredible ROI of 1251%, with the majority of the revenue originating from the basket abandonment automation series. That’s income that would otherwise be lost to Deal4Doors and demonstrates the value of effective email marketing for Ecommerce businesses. 

Following the rollout of the delivery banner, sitewide revenues and transactions increased by 106% compared to the previous six-month period.

We’re now working with Deal4Doors on the next stage of their multi-channel marketing journey, creating Microsoft Shopping and Google Product Search campaigns using CRO to strategically evolve the website and implementing a comprehensive SEO strategy to help Deal4Doors reach its target audience, build brand awareness and increase sales.
