The challenge

Managing physical assets across multiple sites is harder than it looks.

Spreadsheets get out of date, inspection records go missing, faults get logged late, or not at all.

And when something goes wrong with a safety-critical asset, the paper trail rarely tells the full story.

For facilities managers and operational teams, that uncertainty creates real pressure. Proving compliance, tracking maintenance activity and keeping on top of contractor attendance are time-consuming jobs, and the consequences of getting it wrong can be serious.

ProAstra was built to fix all of that.

What we did

ProAstra is a smart NFC asset management platform developed by Ascensor for Appleson Judd, a long-established electrical contracting firm.

Ascensor originally built ProAstra as a minimum viable product, and the first release did its job superbly, giving organisations complete visibility of their physical assets across every site they operate, all from a single, easy-to-use platform.

As the tech evolved, we then worked with the ProAstra team on a full front-end rebuild. The aim was to modernise the platform and improve the user experience, while preserving the workflows that customers already relied on.

ProAstra’s core workflow is straightforward but powerful.

  • Clients create sites and assets within the system
  • The platform generates NFC URLs and QR identifier codes for each asset
  • Technicians scan these tags during inspections to log test outcomes or report issues directly from the asset’s location
  • Managers review dashboards and reports to monitor asset health, maintenance activity and outstanding faults

The rebuild kept this familiar flow in place and improved every touchpoint.

The updated interface is cleaner and easier to navigate. Scanning and logging actions are quicker, which matters when engineers are working through long checklists on site. Managers benefit from clearer, more responsive views of asset status across large and complex estates.

The new frontend architecture makes it simpler for ProAstra to add features, refine reporting and respond to client feedback. 

It gives client organisations complete visibility of their physical assets across every site they operate, all from a single, easy-to-use platform.

Site managers and facilities teams see everything in one place. Dashboards show the live condition of assets across large and complex estates, with fault notifications, maintenance schedules and full audit trails available at a glance. There’s no paperwork, no chasing, no guesswork.

Automated reminders mean compliance requirements are never missed, and every inspection is timestamped and verified.

ProAstra works across every category of asset, from fire safety equipment and emergency lighting through to HVAC, fleet and mobile kit, making it a genuinely practical tool for organisations with varied and demanding estates.

The results

ProAstra now serves more than a dozen client organisations, including St George's Park, the English FA's national football centre. 

Each client manages multiple locations and thousands of individual assets through the platform.

Users report significant improvements to operational efficiency, with teams spending less time chasing records and more time acting on the information in front of them. Compliance reporting is faster, audit trails are complete and the risk of missed inspections or overlooked faults is greatly reduced.

The platform continues to grow, and its design means new features can be introduced quickly. Larger clients can be onboarded without disruption, giving ProAstra the flexibility to scale alongside its customers.

We’re continuing to work closely with ProAstra as they move into this next phase, supporting a platform that has grown from an MVP into a robust, successful long-term product.
