Ascensor’s work has helped Crysp evolve their software service, customising the platform in partnership with major clients who require unique modules.
Our scalable software development has added useful new features and dramatically boosted the app’s speed, performance and stability.
It’s enabled the onboarding of more than 1,000 client users onto the portal and amplified the value that Crysp’s software can offer, so that clients can focus on core compliance issues and manage maintenance.
Following our work Crysp now makes property managers even more efficient and reduces their risk of non-compliance.
The Aim
Crysp are a leading software as a service (SaaS) provider for organisations looking to manage their health and safety compliance online.
Founded in 2019, they’ve developed a solution that enables property managers to move from hard copies of documents and outdated manual systems to a digital platform that enables all safety requirements and records to be centrally managed.
In addition to large property portfolio clients, Crysp have multi-national customers across many sectors including education, energy, health, retail and beauty as well as GP and dental practices.
Crysp can serve single-site premises, though their clients are often multi-site organisations who would otherwise struggle to plan and manage the demanding maintenance and safety compliance requirements associated with large-scale operations.
The Crysp team approached us with a roadmap of improvements they were keen to see included in their web app to increase conversion and improve customer experience.
What we did
We enhanced Crysp’s innovative software by creating a single sign-on solution, integrated with Microsoft 365, to provide users with a seamless login process.
Alongside this we developed the ability for new customers to sign up via the payment platform Stripe and introduced a 14-day full-access trial process.
Our work with Crysp also includes improvements to the policy management area of the application, for more efficient management processes and an improved customer experience.
We moved the application from a series of micro services to traditional monolithic architecture, which increased speed and has advantages in areas such as error handling/logging in one location, fast testing and deployments, and a logical architecture for lean development processes.
The back-end technology is Laravel Lumen, a fast-performing PHP framework for building web applications in an elegant and robust manner.
It is designed to work very comfortably with API technologies, and highly suitable for the nature of Crysp’s core functionality.
A headless front end approach is utilised in order to create a front end that’s abstracted from the services themselves and as such can utilise an entirely different framework that’s most appropriate to the project needs.
The front end is developed as a Progressive Web App using the JavaScript framework Vue.js.
It’s performant and scalable, helping to create a maintainable, testable application.

Also, they have worked on a collaborative basis with us and our key clients to customise key elements of our portal for our larger users with bespoke needs.
Our involvement with Ascensor in the last 18 months has helped Crysp enjoy significant growth, by helping us keep a laser focus on development that enhances the customer experience, bringing fresh and creative ideas and solutions to our business. I am really excited about where we will head together in 2023 with the developments in the pipeline.
